How do I export to excel at the resource level

I can view my project tasks at the resource level but I can't map the file to
excel at the resource level. For example, If I want to export task a with
resource b,c and d to excel for resource a I can't display the planned hours
for resource a. The hours are displayed at the tasl level. How can I map to
the resource level so I can actually display hours at the resource level vs
task level?

pumpki,
You might try using the "analyze timescale data in Excel" utility/add-in
found on the "Analysis" toolbar. It may give more information than you
want but it is a quick way to get hours per resource. You will get
different results with the export by starting from either the Resource
or Task Usage views in Project. Try them both - see which gives the best
"cut" of the data.

Thanks John- I tried this but did not get the kind of detail I am looking
for. What I want is to list all tasks assigned to a specific resource w/i a
date range and to be able to display the taskID, Task Name, Planned Work,
Actual Work, Remaining Work
and Start and Finish Dates (i.e. Planned and Actuals). I have a view in
project that allows me to display this info, but when I try to map it to
excel, I cannot get the actual and remaining hours to display at the resource
level. In other words, the excel file displays that information at the task
level. Is there any way I can display this info at the resource level by
mapping or someother technique?

Thanks pumpki>

pumpki,
I'm a little bit out of my element here - for something like this I go
directly to VBA to create and format whatever report I need. However, I
did play with a simple export map and here's what I found. The best I
could come up with (without using VBA) is to export Resources and
include assignment rows. An export map doesn't seem to respect any
applied filters (e.g. Date Range), so you will need to include the Start
and Finish dates along with your other data. Then "filter" the Excel
data for the date range of interest.

You can also use a copy and paste method but that can be a bit tedious.
In my opinion the best way to create the type of report you are seeking
is to use VBA. If you don't have any VBA experience but would like to
learn we can help get you started.
