How do I format a cell

I am new to Project & was wondering, how do I shade a cell? I need to
highlight the latest changes to my sheet but I can only seem to change the
font color? Please help

You cannot.

Here are some workarounds (copy pasted from another thread in the forum)

You may use the drawing tool to create the rectangle, making sure you send
the rectangle to the back. This is somewhat problematic if you then zoom the
Gantt chart in or out.

The other method I prefer is to create a custom calendar (Tools> Change
Working Time...New). Select the days during the Winter months and mark those
as non-working.

Then in the Gantt chart, right click over the Gantt chart and select
Nonworking Time from the shortcut menu. Select the nonworking time from the
custom calendar.

There is an update needed field which will apparently identify if there is a
change made to a task or resource. It needs the project tasks to be set up
with Teamassign etc under workgroups. I have never used this feature ,yself,
but it looks promising.
