how do I get a document out of the "read only" mode???

My word documents are in the ''read only" mode. How do I get them out of
that mode??

You might try right clicking on the file and selecting Properties from the
menu that appears. Make sure the General tab is selected and at the bottom
you'll see three check boxes. The first one is Read Only. Make sure there is
no check mark there and the file will no longer be read only.

One other thing, if they are all coming up read only after you've created
them go to
Tools then choose Options. Open the security tab and about half way down
there is a check box that says "Read Only Recommended". Make sure that it has
been cleared alos.
