How do I get subscript on my toolbar?

I am in chemistry and constantly am using subscript but everytime I need to
use it i have to go through format to change my font. How do I put a
subscript button onto my toolbar for easy access?

Tools|Customize
Click on the Commands Tab
In the Category for Format, you will find a button for Subscript
Drag it onto the Toolbar of your choice.

Right click on any tool bar, then choose Customize. Click on the Commands tab
and then Format. In the box to the right, scroll down until you see the
subscript and superscript icons. Drag these in any toolbar you like. That
should be it.

For chemicals, I find it simpler to use a keyboard shortcut. Hold down the
Ctrl key and press "=" (the equal key) to toggle subscript on or off. Add
the shift key (Ctrl plus the "+" key) and you can toggle superscript which
comes in handy for ionic charges.
