How do I insert a picture into the header or footer of Word?

I have a company logo I cut and pasted from a document. I am trying to save
the logo in my pictures so that I can use it when needed. Also I need to
insert the logo into the header or footer to ensure proper spacing but can't
figure out how to save the picture and then insert it. Help!

I don't understand how saving the logo as a web page will allow me to then
save it as a picture, or maybe I don't know how to save the picture properly
after it has already been saved as a web page. I tried but still I wasn't
able to do it.

When you save the document as a Web page, the pictures are extracted into
separate files, which you can access and (if you like) resave under more
descriptive names. Graham's article does not, in fact, make this clear.

By default, Word saves the images in a separate subfolder. So suppose you
have a document called MyPastedImage.doc. When you save it as a Web page,
you will get MyPastedImage.htm and also a subfolder called
MyPastedImage_files. In that folder you'll find images with filenames such
as image001.gif. You can look at these in Thumbnails view to see which is
which, then rename them and move them to a more suitable folder. You can
then delete the Web page, which will also delete the supporting folder.
