how do I keep my Table from automatically creating borders?

how do I keep my Table from automatically creating its own cell and column
widths? I have used use Table for years, but the document I am working on is
creating it's own widths. I change it back and work along and in a few
minutes it shifts it back tio where it was, shifting the widths of several
columns and cells in the process.

How do I fix it?

If you have this problem in Word 2002 or 2003, then select the table,
right-click on the table, left-click on Table Properties | Table tab |
Options | uncheck the "Automatically resize to fit contents" box | OK |
OK. If you have this problem in some other program, you will have to do
a much better job of describing your situation.
