how do I link tasks from different projects

First off, I'm a self-taught user that doesn't like to read manuals unless I
have to (maybe a problem...) and that I've only been working with Project
(Standard 2003) for about 3 weeks...

With that said... I have four different Project files (all the same project
spread out over 13 years) and I need to link specific task from each file.
Example - two of the files are extremely detailed, one is somewhat detailed
and the other is basic. I need to be able to link them all in such a way
that when first viewing the file you see the basic file - if you want further
detail you can "click" on a specific task thus opening up more task
information... For instance, if I brief a high-ranking individual they may
only want to see the basic info however, they may have questions, which may
require further details from the other Project files. In this case I would
like to "click" on the specific task in question which in turn would open up
to provide further details from the other project files.

I hope this makes sense (it confuses me just typing it)....

Hi,
New file
Insert, project, the first one, if necessary "collapse" (little minis sign
Insert, Project, the second one, etcetera
Now Show, All Subtasks
Link the tasks as if they were in one project.
Close and save all.
Ech time both linked projects are open links will be refreshed.
