How do I make a template into just text so I can modify?

I keep fighting the template when I want to make chages. How can I just
type? I created a resume and like the look but want to add some new text. It
wants to arrange it in a way I do not want. I am in Word 2002.

The look you like is almost certainly the result of tables. You can see if
this is the case by turning on the display of gridlines (table edges) under
the Tables menu. If this is the case, you would insert or delete rows to add
