How do I make the time and date of a page in OneNote auto-update?

I want the time and date at the top of the page in OneNote to auto-update
when I make changes to that page. Is there a way to set that up to happen
automatically?

That can't be done, as it kinda defeats the purpose of having a timestamp.

You can either make new pages (which would have new timestamps) when you
add content, or use the KB shortcuts (Alt-Shift-T, Alt-Shift-D, or Alt-
Shift-F) to add a manual timestamp inline as you add content to a page.

In ON 2007 content is timestamped more frequently, and the context menu
will tell you when a particular paragraph was modified.

It doesn't defeat the purpose of having a timestamp. In word processors, you
can insert a timestamp in the footer/header/etc. that auto-updates everytime
the document is printed or saved which is helpful because it lets you know
when the document was last updated and it lets you know which is the most
recent version of the document when you've got multiple hardcopies of the
document.

But regardless of what merrit it might or might not have, I guess you're
telling me is this isn't a designed feature of OneNote. Is there a way I can
make this happen (e.g., copy/paste an auto-updating timestamp from Word) as a
work-around?

Thanks for your help.

You might want to try "Phrase Express". It has a macro for DateTime. I
just downloaded the free version and it worked pretty well. I had to "right
click" and Paste, but then it seemed to directly insert a DateTime stamp.

Hope this helps,

No. This it not possible.
It's totally different worlds.

For sure an intresting piece of software. Too bad that we have not got
an "Autotext" feature in ON :-( :-(

Still:
a) It will not do what Jeffry is having in mind (a timestamp being
automatically updated);

b) Inserting a timestamp is built-in in ON 07:
Insert | Date and Time / Alt+Shift+F ;

c) It's even easier in PhraseExpress:
Just a click on the icon in the IconTray and select the item
(It will be in the Clipboard so that pasting for multiple usage is
possible).

To update date/time to 'now' (under the Page Title), click in date field to
display calendar button to change date to 'Today'; click in time field to
display clock button to change time.

Alt-Shift-F to insert date/time at cursor position. (under Insert menu)
