How do I merge text and image objects in word?

I have used word to design a layout using text boxes and one picture object.
I am wanting to merge these into one picture object so that I can resize the
design to desired proportions. Can you help please?

You should be able to select each of them... using either Shift as you
select them... then from the Draw Menu on the Drawing Toolbar select Group.
