Shoot! I was hoping there was some secret somewhere..:0)
I have 17, files in about a half a dozen folders (if that matters).
What is really weird is that there is no way for me to confirm what
program
version these were built and saved in. Strange situation, but it had to
do
with first having Office XP on this computer and not liking it, so due to
only having a license for one. We put Office XP on our office laptop and
then I installed my good old Office 2000. I thought I had removed all of
the
Components of Office XP, because I know the Publisher program I was using
was
just like Office 2000's Publisher, but I never checked it or noted it
anywhere... "my bad" I tell ya! All was good for over one year! Then
Word
started acting really weird, so just a couple weeks ago I deleted and
reinstall all of my Micrsoft Office 2000. I spent a good deal of time
searching for fixes and this seemed to be the best route to go. Tonight,
for
the first time since this reinstall, I went to open a Publisher file and
saw
that I never re-installed the 2nd Disc with this program with Publisher on
it. I first just installed Publisher and then I went back and also
install
all the other features on this 2nd Disc. All along and with many attempts
at
opening the files, I always get this message. Would attempting a program
"repair" be of any help?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. You can only spend so many
hours
searching through Google and feel yourself becoming more confused as time
goes on.....:0)

My mistake. I assumed you still had the older version. How many files do
you
have?

I read the problem with this suggestion on another board. I have to
agree
that it doesn't seem possible to Save a file at all, if you cannot open
it
at
all. There is no right click option, nor a place in the file's
Properties
to
"Save As" nor to "Save" for that matter. If there is a way, I and alot
of
other people would surely like to know how...
Thanks!
:
You'll have to go back and save all of the files as a Pub 2000 file.

Yes, I had an newer version of Publisher and now I am back to
Publisher
2000.
So does this mean I am screwed and have to redo all my Publisher
files?
Thanks so much for your help!!
:
This message usually indicates that the file you are trying to open
is
from a
more recent version of Publisher than you have. If someone else
created
the
file (or has worked on the file) you need to have them back save it
to
Publisher 2000, or upgrade to the newest version of Publisher. If
this
is
one
of your own files you may have had a newer version of Publisher
installed
on
your system.
It is possible to have more than one version of Publisher
installed,
which
I like to do so I can work on joint projects without worrying about
issues
that can occur when back saving files or opening them in a newer
version.

I had to re-install Publisher 2000 and I am also getting an error
message
stating that Publisher cannot open a file from a different
version.
I
just
downloaded and installed all Office 2000 updates and I have
turned
off
Script
blocking and Office plug-ins in my Norton Options menu. Still
the
files will
not open and I hate to have to re-build a ton of them... Help!
