How do I paste a Visio drawing as a picture?

I am trying to paste a MS VISIO 2000 diagram into a MS Word 2002 as a picture
using a "Paste Special". However, MS Word pastes it as an object and I cannot
center-align the diagram like I can do with a picture. This was possible with
MS Word 2000 and I am curious to know what changed.

Hi Theo,

Is the Visio object more than one printed page
in size when you use Visio's File=PageSetup/Print
features?

When you copy from Visio 2000 into Word 2002
and use Edit=>Paste Special what are the choices
you have listed?

Are you using the setting to create a drawing canvas
under Tools=>Options=>General or using the
Insert=>Picture=>New Drawing before pasting?

Hello Bob

The Visio object is less than one printed page. I have a choice to paste the
object as a Picture under Paste Special options (which I choose), however, it
still pastes it as an object.

Also, I don't have the option to "create a drawing canvas under
Tools=>Options=>General" turned on nor do I use the Insert=>Picture=>New
Drawing before pasting. I do a "Paste Special=>Picture" to paste the VISIO
object.

Like I mentioned before, it worked the way I wanted in Office 2000. I am
just curious to know what changed.

Hi Theo,

MS changed the graphics engine starting with Office XP
to GDI+ (now a part of Windows XP as well). What version
of Visio are you using?

If you paste as a GIF or BMP graphic what indication are
you getting that it's a linked object?

Hello Bob,
I am using VISIO 2000 with Office 2003. I get an option to paste the
picture as
1) Microsoft VISIO Drawing Object
2) Picture
3) Picture (Enhanced Metafile)

I click on the second option. However, when I right-click it to format the
picture, most of the options that I need to align the picture are greyed out.
This was possible with Office 2000.
