how do I plce more than one mail merge recipient per page?

I am trying to create flyer, 3 per page. printed both front and back, with
each with a different name and address? Any ideas how to do this?

If I understand you correctly, try using the merge to catalog feature. It is
the only one I know of that allows you to put multiple address merges on one
page.
Create your 3 flyers per page.
Tools/Merge/Catalog and set up the merge fields in the address fields on all
3 flyers on just the one page.
Merge it and it will do all of the flyers (3 on a page) multiple times until
it has merged all of your addresses.

If this is not what you were looking for, please clarify in more detail.
