how do i register my new software

i do not get prompted to register my new verson of microsoft office student
and teacher edition 2003..

What does it say when you click Help > Activate Product?

Isn't there an option to Activate the product under Help.

Actually, Activation and registration are different. You don't have to
register, but you will have to activate (if you want to keep using it!).

You can also register the first time you use any of the office suite of
programs. If you declined, you can register online:

It looks like you'll need a Microsoft Passport id (or whatever it's called!).
