how do i reinstall microsoft word

What version of Word? What happens when you try to use Word? Do you
get an error message, and if so, what does it say?

I would take two approaches:
1: Clean your computer of adware. Download, install, update
and scan with Ad-aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com
2: Rather than re-install, choose Detect & Repair from the
Help drop down menu. Have your CD ready.

While OpenOffice will read Word documents, it is not the same as Microsoft
Office.
