How do I remove embeded fonts from a publisher file?

Ken S.

I have been using a copy of my previous publication as a template to produce
subsequent issues of a bi-monthly newsletter which is 12 pages.
The file is huge, over 55mb. I believe it is large because of embedded fonts.
I want to make a pdf file, but can't because of the publication file size.

Is there a way a can unembed these fonts? Am I correct that embeded fonts is
the problem? Is there some other issue that makes this file so large?

That's not that huge. I've created 300+MB Publisher files from scratch.

I don't.

What errors do you get?

I doubt it.

What version of Publisher are you using?

There's something else going on in the publication. Are there any graphics
that aren't on the page but rather the pasteboard area? Can you not just
re-create the template in a new document? That will eliminate all the
problems of a bloated document. The other thing you can do is to do a save
as. That's always the first thing you should do.

Why can't you make a PDF of a 55MB Publisher document? What happens when you
try to, which PDF creation program are you using?

Thanks for your swift reply.
Ok about embeded fonts not being the problem.
My ISP limits the size of uploaded files, so I have to keep it less than 15MB.
I use Kinati online pdf conversion service which emails the converted .pub
file back to me. I am using Publisher 2003 SP2.

I use a previous newsletter issue, delete the text and graphics and replace
with copies of updated Word files. I am careful to limit the size of the
graphics files.

Thanks for your help

Download and install the free (beer, not speech) PrimoPDF from
www.primopdf.com. This will allow you to convert to PDF without sending
files all over the internet.

This is a recipe for disaster.

Recreate your layout in a new blank publication (from scratch if
possible, otherwise by blanking an existing publication and copying and
pasting into the new publication). Then save as a template (File > Save
As... > Type: Publisher Template). Base your new newsletters on the
template.

Thank you. I need to limit file size to 15MB. Graphics are not the issue
here.
Making a new file from old does not solve my problem. I use Kinati online
service to convert to pdf. Is the way the .pub is formatted the issue?
