A family member deleted Microsoft Small Business Office while trying to clean
up old files on the hard drive. I lost the CD start-up disk and couldn't get
system restore to work. Any suggestions?

I believe Office XP Small Business is an OEM-only edition, which
means it came preinstalled on your computer by the computer
manufacturer, so you will have to contact your computer
manufacturer for a replacement Office CD.

HA! Yeah, gotta learn to not only SEE the post, but READ it!<g>

Obviously, I read it too fast and was thinking they said lost the key.

Yup...this won't work without the ol' media. ;-)

"To replace OEM or System Builder software media, contact the OEM where you
acquired the software."

Notice it does not say that the OEM *will* replace it, it just says to
contact them. They are under no obligation to do so.

What's your point? What I told the OP to do in so many words was
to "contact the OEM where you acquired the software". I didn't
promise the OP that the OEM *would* replace it, and I agree with
what you said about the likelihood of the OEM providing a
replacement. I guess I don't understand why you take exception
to anything I've said in this thread. Maybe you're Harlan in
drag?

I don't take exception to what you said at all. I'm just saying the
Microsoft says to contact the OEM but there's nothing that says the OEM will
do anything. It's one of those sad facts of life.

Who's Harlan?
