how do I revert to my previous Office version from 2003?

I did the trial version of Office 2003, and I just want to go back to the
version I had. Of course, Gates doesn't want this to be an easy action. Any
suggestions?

So you're too stupid to uninstall the trial and reinstall your previous
version then? If that's too difficult for you, then maybe you shouldn't be
using a computer...

I don't know how it could be simpler, go to add/remove programs, select
Office 2003 and remove it.

Install the CD for your previous version and follow the install
directions.

If you're having some other problem let us know.

It is NOT as simple as going to add/remove programs and 'simply' removing
Office 2003. There are errors errors errors. Installing the prior Office 10
CD also does not appear to work.

It seems to come down to the Office Service Engine, which according to the
help instructions, needs to be enabled via the Manager under My Computer.
However, after following those instructions, and attempting to "Start" the
engine (there is no option to "Enable", more errors occur.

It's obvious Herr Gates does not want you to revert to a prior version of
Office, but jeez louise.

Can someone help me in any way?

Microsoft wants to charge me $35 to find out how to uninstall their crappy
trial and reinstall the version I've already paid for and I refuse to fork
over more money to do that out of principle. Very frustrating.

Do you recall the errors you got? Maybe the best way might be to go look up
each error in the Microsoft Knowledge Base?

Again, it might help to know what errors you got. Can you repeat the process
and post the errors here?

Thank you for replying.

One error pointed to winnt/installer/std11n.msi, which I ran, which
successfully uninstalled Office 2003.

HOWEVER! The version of Office XP I had installed was an upgrade from a
PRIOR versin of office. Apparently, installing and/or uninstalling Office
2003 has apparently wiped out all history of prior Office versions, and now
my Office XP Standard Upgrade disk will not work because it cannot find any
upgradable version.

This Office 2003 trial is a total fiasco and feels like a scam. I hope
noone buys it.

When it asks about the previous version, insert the disk for the previous
version and point to that.
