How do I save a letter to a CD-RW ?

I want to type a letter using Microsoft Office Word. My laptop doesn't have a
floppy disk drive, so I have to use a CD-RW. When I went to save as and went
to the D drive the computer told me that I did not have access to the D
drive. Help!
