how do I save formulas in conditional formatting without retyping

Without more detail...........hard to say.

Select all the apprpriate cells beforehand and type your formula into the dialog
for the active cell.

Note the use of $ signs for relative and absolute references.

OR.......enter your CF for first cell then use the format paintbrush to copy to
the other cells.
