How do I set up a hotkey to produce a set of characters?

I am tired of continually typing my e-mail address. So I would like to set up
a hotkey which, when hit will automatically type my e-mail address

You would need to get a third party utility for that. Try a search on

Couldn't that be done with a macro? (I don't use macros much but I thought
you could create one and set up a hotkey for it.)

You can record macros in Word, or Excel, but it only works there. And
I'm suspecting that the OP is not talking about them.
