How do I set up an account I don't know if it is a pop3, http,etc

I am trying to set up my e-mail accounts and all I keep getting are error
messages. How do I know if it is a pop3, http, etc. and what do I do after
that?

Check your ISP website for details or call their technical support line. They
will have all the information you require in order to set up your account.
