How do I show all of my notes?

Sarah

It seems that there is a limit on the number of characters allowed in the
notes field. How can I conveniently print lengthy notes along with all other
information desired? Thanks!

Hi Sarah,
You are correct, the Notes field (column) added to a table does truncate
after 255 characters although the Notes tab of the Task Information dialog
box will show the entire text.
The only way that I have been able to print out really lengthy notes is to
turn on the "Print Notes" option on the View tab in the Page Setup dialog
box. This will print the notes on a separate page(s).

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I created a handy Custom Report that prints the tasks and the notes
underneath them. It also shows the ticks for completed tasks. They can be
ordered or filtered in for resources if you wish.
In the View Report, Custom Report, Select, New Tasks Ok, Give it a name, Go
to Details tab and tick both the Notes boxes. Look at the other critereia
such as filter and sort. Make sure the show all tasks is on when you select
your custom report

i found your instructions below very useful. One question, how do i print
with the sub-tasks indented in from a task? It is aligning up and numbering
as if it is a task as oppose to a sub-task. hope that makes sense.

Hello okie,

The reports do not show the indentation. However, you can edit the
custom report, click the Text tab and format the summary tasks to
show with a larger font face or bold, italic.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Jules,

Thanks so much for jumping in with the suggestion. I'll definitely play with
the text to see how that could work. One other question - I noticed that the
report prints out the notes but I've lost the "resource" column.... do you
know how I can add it to the custom report?

thanks.

J

JulieS

Hi Okie,

Usually the report is based upon the Entry table, if you've modified
the entry table to remove the Resource Name field, it won't show in
the report either.

Hi everybody in this thread,

a discussion on a similar topic is running at

maybe this gives some insights.

Have fun
Michael

Just to clarify, Michael. Google groups is reading the Microsoft
news server - msnews.microsoft.com and displays information from the
newsgroups on Microsoft's server. Google groups has been missing
posts lately, so it's possible you are posting to threads that have
more posts than you can see through google groups.

If you are using a newsreader (and it appears that you are not), you
can get to the newsgroups directly instead of going through google
groups. Point your newsreader to msnews.microsoft.com and then
subscribe to the newsgroups of interest to you. The three
newsgroups for Microsoft Project are:

Microsoft.public.project
Microsoft.public.project.developer
Microsoft.public.project.server

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
