How do you circle a number to indicate your score?

Hi, I've been asked to rate myself on a 1,2,3,4,5 scale against a list of
questions to indicate my professional competence by circling the appropriate
number. How do I do this? I can create the circle over the 1,2,3,4, or 5 but
it hides my score.

I have a feeling you're expected to print the questionaire & complete it by
hand, but if you're using the AutoShapes to create your circles use the Fill
Color tool (paint can on the Drawing toolbar) to select No Fill. [Assuming
you're using a version of Word prior to 2007.]
