How do you retrieve a task note truncated by Outlook?

When I synched by smart phone to Outlook, it truncated one of my task notes
and overwrote the entire task note on my desktop PC with the truncated note.
Now I am missing a good portion of my notes for that task. Is there any way
to retrieve the entire contents of my task note?
