How do you track unfilled resources in project?

I have my project built out with what resources I need and now that it is
moving along I need to track which one are filled and unfilled. For example
my project has X hrs of consulting time needed. Now I alos need to track that
Mr John Smith is working in that role or that it is unfilled. Is that
posssible (without a huge naming convention)?

Hi mr_john,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

I'm not wholly sure I understand what you want, but from the Gantt Chart
view, cilck on Window/Split. Right-click on the lower pane and
View/Resource Graph. If you select a task on which the resource is
assigned, the graph will show its workloading.

Also, you might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #5 on resource allocation, at this site:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

What do you mean by an 'unfilled resource????' Do you mean you need to list
tasks that don't have any resources assigned, resources that aren't used up
to their maximum allowable, or something else entirely?
