How projects can you have

Does anyone know if there is a limit to how many projects
you can have?? I have 58 projects that also get
published to the MS Project server.

I orginally had 28 projects and added 30 last week. Now
when i make a new project or update a project from
resource updates, the changes cannot be seen in the
project center. Assigned tasks can be seen the in the
tasks page by resources.

I am using Project Pro 2002 on windows XP pro.

Thanks in advance

The only limit I know of is disk space on your SQL Server 2000 system.

Check that your Views Notification service is still running on your
Project Server system. Also, check the ViewDrop folder which is under
the Bin folder in the Project Server install folder. It should be
empty or with just a few files that disappear after a little while as
their views are updated. If you have a lot of files in the ViewDrop
folder, then there is a problem. Let us know the results of the above
two items.

Hi

We checked all you suggested. There is plenty of space
on the SOL server. The views Notification service is
running. The view drop folder has 2 files in there from
2003.

Also does it matter that there are two of us using one
license? We are not sharing any projects but the
problems started when I installed project on my project
managers PC, and he published his projects?

Thanks

Ritu,

You have a problem if the two files are stagnant in the View Drop
folder. The Views Notification service is supposed to grab those files
one at a time to update the views for the project that was published.
The fact that the files are not being deleted tells me there is a
problem with your setup.

If this is a development server, you may want to try restarting the
machine to see if you can kick start the Views Notification service.
If you can't do that then try stopping and starting the Views
Notification service. Let us know if that starts processing the files.

Also, check your event log to see if there are any errors with Project
Server or the Views Notification service.

Good luck.

Hi david

We deleted the 2 files and restarted the notification
service and the problem was solved.

I also removed project from my project managers PC and
deleted all his projects.

I am going to try and install project again on his PC.

Thanks for your advice, it helped me from going bald.
