How to access Windows 98 Outlook messages

I recently installed Windows XP Home on top of Windows
98. Even though I have reinstalled Office 2000 in XP I
cannot access the old Outlook messages that existed when
I was running 98. Can I assume that they are gone forever
and there is no way to now access them?

What have you tried? What errors do you get? WHere did you look to find
the old messages? For Windows 98, I believe the PST resided in the folder
C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
