You have posted your question to a newsgroup for Microsoft Project, a
project management scheduling tool. In the future, or if my directions below
do not solve the problem, please re-post your question to the newsgroup for
Word.
I assume you are seeing the duplicate files when you try to open a Word file
through File > Open or the open button on the standard toolbar. You may
delete a file in the Open dialog box by single clicking on the file name to
select it and then click the delete button (looks like an "x") in the open
dialog box.
