How to get formulas working in a custom field?

I am trying to have a column which lists a number. I am trying to add a
formula to this column, which multiplies % work completed (a percentage) with
Approved hours (a custom duration field). It is coming out with some very
strange figures and I don't know why.

Any ideas?

reb-clo,
As I mentioned in my previous answer, Project formats the data for the
duration field into whatever dimension is selected for duration under
Tools/Options/Schedule tab. The underlying data however is stored in
minutes (actually tenths of a minute). But wait, it gets better!
Although the % Work Complete field displays percentage, it is actually
stored as a decimal. So in order to use a formula with these two data
fields, some conversion is necessary.

Assuming you are using Duration1 for your "approved hours" and the
formula you have is in Text1. Then the formula would have the following
form:
Text1=[Duration1]/60*[% Work Complete]/100

Hope this helps.
