How to get help?

M

Mary Ann

I was wondering if someone can tell me how I can find help with some FP
issues other then forums. There is noone in my area because I've tried, so is
there people online that would speak to me on the phone and walk me through a
few tasks? I realize they would want to be paid, which is fine as along as
they know what their talking about and really help me.

I've built quite a few sites with FP, self taught and I know I've done some
things incorrectly and would like to fix them. I would also like to do a few
new things but have had a lot of trouble even with the help of forums and
online tutorials. Taking a class is not an option because there are none in
my area. Thank you.

Hello Mary,

I can't offer much help with FP because I don't use it, I started out using
notepad (hah!) and now use an actual html editor, but not FP.

One thing that takes some work/time is studying the code of websites you
like the looks of to see how others accomplish the same types of things your
trying to do. Don't know how you would determine which sites were developed
by FP tho.

Another idea is to go thru some of the tutorials at...
http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp

A great source for html, css, and especially using tables and such. The
exercises are kinda neat, you can edit their example code to see what
changes. LOTS of good stuff at w3schools... spend some time there, it's well
worth it.

This reply is not what your looking for, but maybe still useful.

(does FP have a "table wizard" to help you structure tables before their
actually applied to the page coding?)

Hi Richard,

Thank you. I will try what you suggested but I'm really stuck on a few
things and just not understanding it when I ask on the forums and get
answers. A lot of times people answer assuming the OP knows more then they
really do. Not that I don't appreciate them trying to help but the answers
sometimes make it more confusing. It would be easier and a lot faster if I
can just talk to someone. Thanks again.

Well, let's drink to Steve's confusion.

But I agree. While there are topics I don't address, this is because I don't
use some facility and/or haven't done enough research. But there are always
others who do know the answer, or the question might even prompt me (or
others) to try to expand my/our own knowledge.

IOW, don't be shy in asking. Noone does (or should) think any question is
stupid.

Thank you guys. I have posted many questions in here and on another forum and
everyone is great. Problem is, sometimes I need to speak with someone
because the answers I receive create more questions for me. Or if I get an
answer with a link to follow that brings me to instruction, I don't always
understand the instruction. I don't know all the language that's used, so
it's hard to follow the instruction. There have been times where I spent days
trying to figure something out when I could have been walked through over the
phone in ten minutes. It costs me more money to spend that amount of time
then if I pay someone and learn it quicker and just get it done.

The problem ( for me anyway ) with trying to help someone over the phone
is that I can't **see** what they are trying to do.
So posting code, or a link to a page that is published to an obscure section of a site is much easier to
help with.
