How to hide completed tasks in Gantt view

J

JD

I would like to only show incomplete task in a Gantt view. I have tried
using the filter but have only been able to highlight the completed tasks and
not him them. I also looked a groups but haven't been able to find the magic
solution.

The filter "Incomplete Tasks" should hide all completed tasks. You can also
turn on the auto-filter option and create a custom filter on the % Complete
field to show only tasks with "less than" 100%.

I have used:

Project/Filtered for: Incomplete Tasks

and all that happens is that the Incomplete Tasks turn blue but they aren't
hidden in either the Gantt View or in the Print Preview.

Any other thoughts?

When you are filtering check to see that the "Highlight" option is not
selected.
Try this, go to the project menu, select "Filter for..." Then "More
filters". In the list that shows up you should see incomplete tasks and
three buttons. One says Highlight (this will turn all the tasks that meet
your criteria blue - just as you describe), another says "Apply" (this will
hide all other tasks), the last says "Cancel" - don't click it.

If you click apply and it turns your tasks blue, then something is wrong
with your installation of project. You might try a re-install.

JD,

Has someone possibly modified the "Incomplete Tasks" filter? Try turning on
the auto filter (at the bottom of the filter list) and apply the custom
filter "less than 100%" directly to the % Complete field (click the drop down
arrow on the % Complete field and select custom to enter the filter).

Hi JD,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

This is a hidden one! Try View/More views.../make sure the Gantt Chart is
selected and click Edit... Now make sure the Highlight filter is not
selected. That should fix it.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Everyone - thanks for all the sugesstions. I did have the "Highlight" box
checked and as soon as I unchecked it all of the completed tasks disappeared
like magic.
