How To: insert a direct link to a document on my server?

I want to be able to email people in my office, with access to my server, a direct link or shortcut to a document, so that they may open, edit and save in the same location. Further, I would like to use folders and documents that use "spaces" in their names

Either use HTML and create a shortcut by Insert-> Hyperlink or type the name
between < > like <file://c:\my documents>
