How to keep connector lines in line chart with missing points?

I would like to keep connector lines in a line chart (timeline) that is
missing data for some points in time. For example, I am showing # units for
each month. For some months, no data is reported. I want the line from time
A to connect to time C - even if there is no data in time B.

Today is your lucky day...

double click your graph/chart in powerpoint (so that you are in graph
editing mode)

go to the "tools" menu and choose "options"

click the "chart" tab along the top of the new menu that pops up

click "empty cells plotted as" "Interpolated"

Then powerpoint will fill in the gaps and join up your lines with no data.
Which saves you having to work out the numbers (but that's another
workaround)
