How to move from Stand-Alone to Farm installation

Hello There

I have this scenario: single server with standard standalone setup.
I now have the need to move the database to a separate SQL Server.
Could anyone please help me understand which is the procedure to move
it correctly?

Then, once moved, which is the strategy for Disaster Recovery?
Should I backup using SQL Server only or should I have to do anything
else?

Thanks a lot to everyone

In my enviroment for MOSS/MOPS 07 I use SharePoint for the backups.

I ended up setting up a farm, starting up all the required services on each
server that was part of the farm, I also created web apps for my information
to restore to.

Then I did the SharePoint restore and went through each field to change the
names to the corresponding server or DB.

In my enviro I had to add each server as a DB admin in SQL for them to
communicate.

There will more than likely be small errors that need to be traced down but
this path has worked for me quite a few times this year when setting up dev
enviroments.

As far as continually backing things up I stick with SP since I have proven
I can restore it. I still backup SQL DB's just in case though.

Also a word of advise, when doing the restore start with a clean slate in
regards to SP. I mean uninstall anything realted to MOSS/MOPS, also go an
delete all folders related to them.
