How to recalculate message size?

Please help... How do you get Outlook to "recalculate"
message size? Example: original message has only 2K
worth of text plus a large attachment file, which stores
as 1MB. Then large attachment is deleted, but message
still stores as 1MB instead of original 2K.

I just did a test in Outlook 2002 where I opened a mail item,
right-clicked on the attachment, selected Remove, and the 14K message
changed to a 4K message which was reflected immediately in the Size
column. You did not mention which version of Outlook that you are
using. Maybe compacting your .pst file after deleting the attachment
would work in your version.
