How to resolve "Unsubmitted Timesheets"

Eren Ersonmez

We just started using Project Pro and Server 2003. We decided to use
timesheet approval process within PWA.

When we see an "unsubmitted timesheet" warning on the home page, it seems
the only way to clear that warning is to charge hours to at least one of the
projects for that resource. What if that resource has no hours to charge to
any of the projects, not even the admin project? Is there a way not to
charge any hours for a given time period? We don't want to see that
"unsubmitted timesheet" warning forever. Also, we don't want to disable
timesheet approval either. This is my main question.

More fundamentaly, what are the conditions that must be true before we see
an "unsubmitted timesheet" warning for a resource? I am asking this because
we don't see this warning for some of the active resources that did not
submit any timesheets either.

Any help is much appreciated.

Eren,
Have you applied SP1? I think there was a problem with "unsubmitted
timesheets" that was resolved with the service pack.

Jo,

Yes, we have applied SP1. Our problem is not that we see "unsubmitted
timesheets" warning when we should not, but that there is no way (that I
know) to allow resources to report zero hours of work for a given time
period.

I hope this makes sense.

The "unsubmitted timesheets" warning indicates that a team member has
scheduled Work for which no actuals were submitted during that specific time
period . If the team member does not submit work for tasks scheduled during
that time period, then you must reschedule those tasks into the next
reporting period. To reschedule those tasks, do the following steps:

1. Open the first project in which the team member has an unsubmitted
timesheet entry
2. Select the tasks to which the resource is assigned
3. Click Tools - Tracking - Update Project
4. Select the "Reschedule uncompleted work to start after" option
5. Select the date BEFORE which work will resume (for example if the work
resumes on Monday, pick the preceding Sunday)
6. Select the "Selected tasks" option and click OK
7. Repeat this process for each project in which the team member has an
unsubmitted timesheet entry

Microsoft Project Professional will split or move the selected tasks into
the next time period. In each project, you must click Collaborate -
Publish - All Information to "push" the latest schedule information to PWA.
Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Dale,

Sorry for the late response. What you suggested did work! Thank you.

Hi all,

We are still getting the unsubmitted timesheet problem after
installing SP1 and the hotfix on the MSP2003 server.

Is anyone still having this problem?

I have about 120 users who all are experiencing this problem - which
is mildly embarrassing for the department.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Russell.
