how to save notepad with a different extension

W

William

I need to save a notepad file without the .txt extension.
I've tried saving using " name"
I already disabled the "hide extensions for known file types".
But nothing has worked so far.
I appreciate your help.

I use Windows XP, and Office 2003.

Thank you

I guess my first question is "Why?"

Notepad will put the .txt extension on there even if you don't want it to.
You can obviously go to the file through MyComputer or Windows Explorer and
rename it without the extension. But when you try to open it, Windows will
ask you to pick a program to do so. And you'll probably pick Notepad...so
back to my original question.

What do you plan to do with the file once you've saved it without an
extension?

Steve
