how to save or convert an MS Word 2000 doc as a pdf?

is it possible, and and if so, how, do I save or convert an MS Word 2000
document into a pdf file? do I need special software such as Adobe?

It is only possible if you have the full version of Adobe or some other third
party software. Primo PDF is a free utility that you can use.
