How to set up Appendices with it's own numbering? ex A1, A2

Would like to set up Appendices in a presentation that has it's own slide
number referenced by the Appendix name. For example, Appendix A will be
numbered A1, A2, etc and Appendix B will be numbered B1, B2, etc.
Essentially a way to reset the slide number to 1 in the middle of a
presentation.

The short answer is - you cant!

You might be able to have the appendices as separate linked shows you could
then number them as you want

That's surprising that this has not come up sooner as Powerpoint is used
consistently for communication, sales, etc. and this would help minimize
maintenance. thanks for your reply
