How to set up different color for each resource in Project Gantt?

Hi
I want the task bars in Gantt Chart view to change colour when I assign a
particular resource to the task.
Can do it by manually by formatting the bar but can't seem to find a way to
do it so it happens automatically
I am using Standard 2003

Thanks

That worked a treat :)
Thanks heaps.
(It is a bit of clicking about for something I would think a fairly common
requirement.)

What colour should the bar become if you assign Joe, who's bars red, and
Bill, who's bars are blue, both to the same task? Stripes? <grin>

You speculate this is a "fairly common requirement" but frankly I don't see
any need for it at all. Project is a work scheduling tool, not a resource
managment tool. Colouring the bars will make for an impressive looking
Gantt chart but I don't see that it buys you any real benefit to help you
schedule, manage, and monitor the workflow in such a way as to complete the
project on time and in budget. No offense meant.

Well, Steve,

you are right in terms of that it is not primarely a resource managment
tool, but there are many people using it just for this purpose.
Possibly we would use a different tool if we had one ;-) (any suggestions?)

The idea with the stripes would be helpful in my eyes if you assign two or
three different resources.
Our tasks have usually just one type of resources assigned when broken down
to the lowest level.
The GANNTT chart with several 100tasks (we built large yachts) becomes that
much more easy to comprehend by the teamleaders when they can see what is
relevant to their team by a color code.

So I think fuzzyman is right there are a lot of users who want that!

Regards,

Franzi
