How to switch from powerpoint "Show" format to editable format?

Hi there,

My power point propram suddenly opens presentations in "show" format and
does not show the buttons to allow me to switch to the editable format so
that I can work on the presenation. How do I do this?

If you press Escape, you should return to the editing mode. But it sounds
like something has hijacked your file associations, have a look here.

-- First of all check that

A the files are not .pps files (for which the "show" default is correct)
B You are not opening with the viewer

Assuming this is all OK

Control Panel > folder options> file types
Scroll down to .ppt - Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation
Select .ppt and click advanced, if OPEN is not the bold option click it and
SET DEFAULT
