I just want to have some simple lists where I put numbers in where I
want them to be. That is I want to turn off automatic numbering and
associated indentation entirely. If I start a line with "1. mytext" I
automatically get numbering and other features I do not want. How can I
stop that? Whatever I try gives me something I do not want. I do not
have the inclination to figure out what to do at this time.

Liberals are for Darwinism but totally against any selection.
