Hwo to DEACTIVATE Office?

R

Roupen N.

I purchased Office XP Pro some time ago and activated at the time.

I have now moved on to Office 2003 and the machine I used Office XP on is
long gone.

I would like to sell the license that I have on eBay, for example. How do I
make sure I DEACTIVATE the product key, so the new owner can activate the
product properly?

I called the activation number but the guy there told me I have to call
another number but the number he game me doesnt seem to work (typo?).

Thanks.

Hi Roupen,

There isn't a 'deactivation procedure.
If the product is an OEM edition of Office XP
it was tied to the original machine. If it
was an 'upgrade' copy of Office XP the person you sell the
entire package too, not just the license, would
need to have one of the qualifying products to
install the upgrade.

If the copy of Office 2003 you have is an upgrade
be sure you have one of the upgrade qualifiers
available in case you need to reinstall or move
your upgrade.

The product is a full retail version - not an OEM version or an upgrade - and
I'd like to sell it to someone. Since the product is already activated, as
far as Microsoft is concerned, how is the new owner going to ACTIVATE the
product?

If it's after (I think) 120 days since last being activated, the
purchaser may well find that activation goes through on the Internet. If
not there's a toll-free number to call.
