Hyperlinking to an Indexed PDF file

When linking to an indexed PDF on network drive, hyperlink works and am able to navigate the indexed pdf file, however, as soon as I save the document, the indexed PDF gives an error that says it cannot find the document being referenced. I have tried placing this same document on my desktop and then I get the same referencing error when trying to navigate. Does anyone know why the hyperlink and document will work up until the time it is saved?

I don't know the real answer to this problem, but our work around was to remove the http: text from our link. So 'http://www.microsft.com/doc.pdf' works if the link is entered as '//www.microsft.com/doc.pdf'
