I am using word 2000 on windows xp

Everytime I open word, my previous document appears. When I click on new
documnet, I am not getting a blank page but the same documnet. Does anyone
have any experience with this and can you tell me how to fix it... it is
probably something I did.

I saw this info, after I posted my question (someone had the same problem).
This was the very firsrt time that I used word ... I had just downloaded it.
When I go into options the box is checked to always save with a .doc ext. I
dont know how the .dot came about. This is how I accidentally erased my word
document... trying to find normal.dot (long story).
