I have been using MS Office 2000 Premium for a long time and I have never
experienced any problems. But recently (2 or 3 days) I cannot open Winword.
Other softwares like Excell, Accent, Pwoer Point etc are working fine. When I
try to start MS Word I get a message that winword.exe has made an error and
it will close now. You have to restart the program. I have tried many times
but get the same message. please help me. thank you so very much.

Usually means that normal.dot is corrupt. As a first test, go to Start > Run
and enter: WinWord.exe /a
This starts Word with no templates or add-ins. If that works, close Word,
find normal.dot and rename it to something like normalold.dot.

If OK, normal.dot was the problem -- you may be able to retrieve macros,
autotext entries, styles, etc from normalold.

If not OK, the problem is an add-in. Restore normal.dot then check what's in
the Office\Start up folder. Change the extension of any .dot files (eg to
..$$$) to stop them loading. When you find the culprit refer back to its
supplier.

If using winword.exe /a does NOT work, reinstall Word.
