I don't want mail to open....

I have two versions of Outlook on my computer....regular Outlook and
Express. When I open the Outlook inbox I get a list of the mail I have
received and I highlight the subject lien so as to open the mail.. In my
express version I have a split screen with the subjects on the top half and
an open piece of mail on the bottom half.

How do I change my Express so that mail is not opened until I double click
the subject..... with all of these viruses I want to be able to delete
before I open....

Wrong. Outlook EXPRESS is NOT a "lite" version of Outlook, it is a
completely different program.

Have you not looked at ANY of the settings in OE? Try View-Layout for a
start.
