I need a formula to find out the % increase for two number
for instance (8 & 12)

if I read you correctly..,

Where A1 = 8 and B1 = 12
formula is =((B1-A1)/A1)
In your example - ((12-8)/8)) = 4/8 = .5
Formulate cell as Percentage = 50%
