I want to remove OFFICE 97 and can't...

NaplesRI

I go into the control panel, add/delete programs. (Windows XP)
When I click on Office 97(Professional edition) to remove it, it tells me to
insert the CD, which I cannot locate.
Is there ANY way to remove this without the CD?
Thanks for your help~

The instructions for the eraser utility include the following:

"This utility is designed to be run after you run the Setup
program for Office and click Remove All to remove Office." I'm
guessing the OP has not run the setup program yet.

and

"The eraser utility does not run on operating systems later than
Microsoft Windows 2000." The OP has Windows XP.

hmm, good point. I'm not sure I can give a solution then!

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254250 would apply, then, but again,
that wouldn't really help if the OP cannot get into setup in the first
place.
